serial # on cz5

JD in Ala.

New member
Does any one have any idea what the serial numbers were on the last cz5's made. the reason I am asking I cannot get my sen. above 4 or 5 without a lot of falsing is it possible that some of the last cz5's made had parameters/sen. changes like the 3D or cz70 how long was the cz5 in production after the 3D and 70 hit the market Thanks

I know the old Fisher Co. would tell you the date manufactured by the ser#...If you unit has the plastic armrest its a newer one and believe me they came out in 93 so a lot of the old models still being used..I believe CZ5 units were made for several years while the CZ3D and CZ70 were on the market also...In other words if you have the black front pole and plastic armrest its possible it has the new sens. parmameters, but if its an older one imagine it needs a tune up as most older CZ5's you could get to to 5-6-7-8 sens. with no falsing...at least in my neck of the woods...

Yes it has the plastic rest and black front pole with a 8 digit serial # I have owned other cz's in the past and in my hunting area you could crank the sen. up to 7 or 8 but that was with the white front pole cz's that may be where the difference is if all three models were being manufactured at the same time worried something was wrong with my sen.and it may need repairing I can only get a sen. 2 in some places I have hunted before. sen. 4 or 5 is normal, and is very rare to be able to get a 6 on sen. at any site I know the white front pole models would detect deep( 8 to 12 inches with no problem) don't seem to be getting as deep with a sen. of 5 with this model. Thanks

The new sens, parameters on the CZ5 but were definetly on the 3D and 70...Might be time for a tune up I would think..Yep you have a newer CZ5 no doubt on that but again proper tuning can work wonders and some models just hotter than others or for that matter two like CZ models one may be a tad hotter. Nature of the beast I guess...Call to Fisher might help...

Appreciate your thoughts on the parameter/sen question. another question I have is if I had the opportunity to demo/air test several cz models excluding the 3D model, should the depth of a air test influence my decision on which one to buy Thanks

Having owned every model CZ ever made I do know some are hotter than others even if you test two like models..I have found even though newer models handle iron a tad better perhaps older models were a tad deeper which can vary.
Unfortunately we don't find coins in the air but sure can give one a ball park estimate.
