Its been fun learning how it works and sharing with everyone.

Very nice machine.

Now I'm moving on.

Good Luck All and Happy Hunting!

Huh?
Don't understand Mike. What or where are you moving on to?
Good luck regardless and thanks for all your help and great posts!
If you mean you will be leaving this forum... bit sad

Sincerely,

he's moving on to the new Explorer.

I'm still looking for that PDFM (perfect detector for Mike). All of them have had somethings that I really liked. Just can't seem to get it all into one package. So I keep looking.......

then I will not even read the spec sheet. :stretcher:

I can totally understand. Detectors are sort of like women... but cost less  Just kidding ladies. A big part of detecting for me is reading about it, the technology, reasearching and trying something new out. Excited to see reports on the new ones. But being in Germany I have allot of virgin ground, T2 is doing most everything I can ask for (maybe it's a bit too sensitive/chattery at times) but look 4ward to the next version and on...

I can't imagine 80 grams difference at the coil is gonna make a huge difference.

Wow....thats a whole 0.1764 pound difference. Where is the fainting smiley face?

You are right Mike I now buy older machines that were around when men hunted virgin ghost towns and nails and iron were all over the place it was trash but not like what we have to deal with now. I too am hoping the new machine that is better then all the rest comes and the pluse devil looks to be very cool!

It seems that most of the original hard core T2 users on here have sold their units.

I like to notch. The T2 is the only machine (out of 17 at last count)that I've ever used that didn't have notch capability. Some people like to hear it all or dig it all or .... I prefer to be able to limit the audio responses to what ever I deem comfortable at the time and to whatever conductive ranges I can handle at that site. I do that with notches. Do I miss some targets? Who cares as long as I'm enjoying myself.

The T2 doesn't notch. I find the most effective use of the T2 to be with a low disc (around 25) and hear it all. Not at my most comfortable that way but it works good on the T2. The audio tones work well at providing an audio notch but in the trash it gets to be a little much.

Beside, if I find I miss it after it's gone, I'll just get another one. No big deal for me. May wind up keeping it anyway. We'll see.

Coil weight make's all the difference in the feel and ulitmately the comfort of the machine. I don't know how much difference it will make in the real world but I hope it make's a lot of difference...

Still, it don't matter to me, I am happy with the Soverign GT for a Minelab machine...

where you could make up your own. In other words, block out pesky ranges of numbers in certain sites. My last hunt, where one of the cellar holes was sprinked with a bunch of modern aluminum tags, is a perfect example. The T2 read them all in the lower 60's. So being able to null say 60-65 would have been handy in that 1 case. I always begged for this in the Fisher Coinstrike. Other sites are littered with shotgun shells & to silence that number range would be cool too....

Bill

I asked Dave early on why he didn't include a notch capability and his response was "notch means different things to different people and they chose to not provide that capability on the T2".

Well....still a nice machine even without a notch.

I know there's always the chance of missing something, but if you're in a site where you consistently have the same trash item, it sure would be nice to ignore it (yeah, i know you can hear it and ignore it, but it's tough for me!). A nice little 1 button "ignore" while sweeping over the trash item would be very, very nice (with more than 1 notch).. (on a teknetics or fisher machine)...plus if you don't want to use it, you don't have to.

Don't you all think notching could just be a revision away? I mean, is there really any need for new hardware? I would think if there was enough interest they could just program it and offer it to those who want it...

Use the mode key to go to notching, have a menu of fixed values and another with ranges. I've done a little programming in the past and this doesn't seem at all complicated (but don't ask me to do it :)

ps - As of now I don't need notching.

which is mainly relic hunting pretty much, I'm fine with it "as is" as well. Relic hunting, or searching sites that go back to Colonial days, one should dig everything anyways. But, I guess we are always thinking up additional things along the way in that quest for the perfect detector for us :)
