I am proud of the way that Garrett handeled this issue. Just goes to prove that they are an American Company in good standing with the consumers! Two thumbs up Garrett!
In regards to initially pointing out the build issues with the AT Pro, it was a forum member by the name of Synthnut who was reporting it here at FMall. He took alot of grief from Garrett users. Verbal abuse in some cases. But he never backed down. Turns out he was right. He should be thanked. Garrett initially tried to blow it off, but then other users were also experiencing issues and they had to deal with it.
p.s. Please don't delete or move this post. Because that is how it really happened here on FMall.
I think that if the truth were known, most of the early AT Pros had defective coils on them when delivered. Many experienced users learned to work around the falseing problems while newer people like me were simply thrown for a loop by all of the beeping and booping that they produced. I do know that my detector was a totally different acting detector when I go it back. I have since sold mine and I bought an AT Gold which I couldn't be happier with.
I'm VERY happy with my AT Pro since the upgrades. Garrett turned it around in 3 days, so it was only gone for 10 days. It came back with a new coil and they must have updated the software, because it now remembers the previous settings when turned on, which it didn't before. I've been out with it almost every day and it's running great. Now I just need to get out and hit some older properties... got my eye on an old CCC camp, a couple of nearby ghost towns and some old ball parks that arren't too far away ( they put a medical clinic over our old one...paved every inch of dirt ). Got a nice jar of clad going, though, and I haven't covered 1/10 of the park I've been working on. Can you say 'Virgin Territory'? I knew you could!
Hope yours comes back soon, it's well worth the effort.
TerraDigger,
Thanks for the kind words .......The fact that Garrett made things right was enough thanks for me ....... Hat's off to them also for making the upgrades available for a deecnt price .....As they listen to their customers , and continue to improve their product , they have a wonderful opportunity to grow as a company ....... Things were a little shaky in the beginning stages , but the AT Pro , and the AT Gold , are doing just fine now and have a good following ...... Thru it all , I'm still happy with my AT Pro ......Jim
