sensitivity too high????

gotta question. ive been hunting some real trashy sites the last couple of days. deep rusted nails everywhere. the problem im having is it seems like im getting a ton of false hits. ive been running iron mask at 12, sometimes 14, and ferrous sounds. sens at 24, sometimes a little higher or little lower but usually at 24. is this too high for these sites? ill be swinging and get a high tone but the target jumps from high right to left and back. ill swing back over it very slowly and get the same thing. ill try from another direction and its usually gone so that tells me its more than likely just iron, right? but sometimes ill get the same thing. if i do then ill put it in pinpoint and check it again for more than one target. alot of the times i will get tone in two spots, one of the tones i can always pinpoint but the second seems to move around a bit. when this happens i'll dig the best one in hopes of being able to pinpoint the second one. 9 times out of 10 after ive dug up the best one, usually the nail, the coin tone will disappear. is it cause ive dug up the nail and destroyed the halo? is there some other settings i can try to eliminate these false hits or do i just have to live with them? its very annoying and slows me down a lot. what do most of you run your sensitivity setting at? and by lowering it down to around 15 or so does it affect the depth of the explorer that much. most of the coins ive been finding are around 7 or 8 inches. any advice will be greatly appreciated .. Thanks, Shaner

I had the same problem when I had my gain set at max, but when I dropped it to around 7 or 8 the false signals stopped by 80%.

i run my gain at 8 .. thanks for the info, ill try it lower and see if it helps.

if its thinck with nails you shouldnt run more than 20 sensitivity.. try iy even lower as well on second and third passes...
