Sensitivity setting and a Threshold setting on the Coin$trike, ( Newbie Question ):ukflag:

" Better a lower sensitivity setting and a higher threshold setting" or "Higher Sensitivity setting and a lower Threshold setting " ?

Is Threshold 2 lower than say - 5 or other way around.

Sorry if I'm being thick.

Sensitivity is gain or receive signal amplification. Threshold is a setting that allows you to adjust the amount of responses to weak signals if you will. Consider it like a squelch control.

I never agreed with the philosophy of lowering the sensitivity and using a high (0 to +1) threshold setting. Run the sensititivity as high as you can just like with any machine and use the threshold to quiet it down if its becomes to noisy from spurious ground noise or responses to tiny bits of metal. Interference is a different animal and you will have to lower the sens and adjust the threshold both to combat it.

Thanks Tom,
I have only had a few hours with this machine and detecting in general. I think I am starting to get to grips with it now ( still a long was to go I guess ) :ninja:
