sensitivity issues sounds like a coin

The last 3 hunts have been a little crazy. at first I thought it was me, seems like I may have an issue with my Excalibur 1000. It's still new about a year old now and has always worked fine. Lately I have noticed that when I swing the detector and bump the ground or hit a small rock or even touch the ground to hard it signals like a coin? anyone else ever encounter this. May be my battery is getting old... Any ideas? I'm still finding coins on the beach but it seems that the coins aren't quite as loud now either? But I am still finding very deep objects, but I have to move very slowly like a snail almost. chime in with your thoughts please... Thanks

just about every machine i have ever used has done this to some extent some time or another.....if its really happening alot..you may want to investigate.......with the machine held straight out parralel with the ground give it a little jiggle--does it false? i believe most of these problem turn out to be wire issues ...... you could tap and manipulate the cables from one end to the other to see if you can pinpoint an area in the cable that could be causing this issue....if its the coil you could detach the coil from the lower shaft and tap it with a nonmetalic object.... i have read some trouble with newer machines having wire issues simular to what you describe....then again double check where the battery wire connects as i have had problems with the terminal pins closing over time and not giving the battery a good connection also check battery and terminals for corrosion or dirt as this can cause an issue.... these are just suggestions and are what i would do but im no expert....if after giving it a simple going over you could always send it to the factory ....good luck...hopfully others with more experience will chime in....

Thanks for the input I'll give it a good work over before sending my sweet heart away. I hate being with out it. I have a few other machines but I realy like the performance of this one. Hoping that what ever it is it's not to serious. Thanks Hwhydah

MY GT HAS ALWAYS DONE THIS WHEN BUMPING INTO A ROCK OR WHATEVER. I AM USED TO IT AND DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT. MAYBE IT IS THE COIL WIRE MOVING, BUT IT DOESN'T SEEM TO AFFECT ANYTHING ELSE. HH-MARK
