sensetivity knob

The simple answer is yes, but at a higher sens, your machine will pickup a lot of signals that may make the machine false, or seem unstable. I have found that with it set to 3/4 of the way up, you will have a stable machine that will find objects well within the acceptable range.

I'll always max it until hunting conditions tell me I need to lower it. Yes, higher settings do search deeper, but hunting with too many false signals is unproductive, so dial it down when necessary, but be aware you may be able to turn it back up a few feet away from a problem area. Sometimes you can learn to identify and ignore the high-sens falses and thus keep your detector maxed out. It may chatter a bit more, but a good signal can still sneak through. Definitely takes a little practice and don't be afraid to keep a finger on a dial or two, changing things as you go.

After all, if there were some magic perfect setting that worked everywhere, why have the adjustment to begin with? Set it as high as you can till you can't handle the noise and keep your hand on the throttle like a dirt bike rider reading the terrain.

thx ed, i recently ran into an area like that last week an changed to all notch mode and turned my sens down and it eliminated alot of trash.i was in a picnic area and when i did that alot of the pull tabs and scrw caps went away, but the only problem with that is i hope i did'nt pass over any gold but thats the chance i take. thx again.oh by the way i had a GOODA hunt too.

I have learned to not discriminate anything dig everything and pray for the best lol its been working so far

hi i was wondering if i had the sensetivity knob turned clockwise all the way would my qdii detector find deeper targets?
Yes, but what targets is the problem. I have areas where the Tracker will pick up large targets over a foot with the sensitivity 90%. It's a location thing. In some parks I'm at 60% in some areas. But it's fun being in an old area and burnin' the ground.
