Send in or not

My ATPro screen looks like you took a dull lead pencil and drew a line about 1/2 inch long on it. It is either a air bubble or moisture bubble under the top screen covering because I can move it around. It's annoying to see , but doesn't seem to have any effect on the metal detector operation. But it doesn't inspire confidence that things will go well if I use in the water again. It was back to Garret last summer after using it in a lake for related water issues and upgrade. So I do have another years warranty. If it was your machine would you return it or not. I hate to send it back even now because I have been able to hunt most of the winter here, since the ground never really frozen this winter. and would greatly miss having the ATPro available since the weather starting to change for the better.

I would sent it back get it fixed and keep the electronics out of the water. Your not the first person that has had leaking problems with the AT Pro. I'm buying a AT Pro in the spring for other reasons than it is water proof ???? From what I have read on this forum and others its just a matter of time before they start to leak. Of coarse this is my opinion my money and my time. Its a great idea, water proof that is but so are watches . I don't go out of my way to get my watch went if I can help it. I wish all you guys luck sticking the AT Pro under water. Its not worth it to me.

If it was mine, I would send it in pronto because this is the slow time of the year and the turn around time would be the fastest. Call Garrett 1 800 527 4011 and tell them your problem.

I could not agree more.

Once you get it fixed upgraded etc. keep the control box out of the water.

Wading seems to be OK, but I think of the control box as water resistant not water proof.

This is based on my personal experiences, others may have different results.

Good Hunting

The LCD's on the AT Pro have had issues and many said it had to do with polarized sunglasses. Not in my case. I was never happy with the display on mine but they obviously fixed it when I sent it in to be upgraded.

Although some had issues upon the first batch that came out, they seldom have issues. The recent posts (6 months+) validate that. They have less issues then a lot of other makes and models. Check the other forums and do an actual count. Garrett asked everyone who purchased the earlier machines to send them in to be checked and they rebooted the warranty from that day on for 2 years. I have had both my AT Gold and Pro in the water numerous times without issues. But, sometimes malfunctions happen. :)

I have done an actual count on the recent threads on the AT PRo leaking problems, not only on this site but many others. I own a 1500 and 2500 garrett and think Garrets machines are top of the line. I thinking about buying a new machine and like to check out problems that may arrise. Yes malfunctions happen we all know that. I'm just saying for myself its not going in the water. By the way here is another post on the leaking problem just posted on this site http://www.findmall.com/read.php?79,1637373 If you want more just ask.

I am sending mine in next month just to have it looked at...It occasionally flakes out on me and starts flashing random stuff on screen and beeping non-stop...I also want them to look it over and re-tune it and maybe buff out some scuff marks from the case...Also make sure all the seals are good and the unit is water proof...

HH,

I wonder if the ones that leaked was due to O-Ring failure,, o-rings wear out on faucets....
Saw a picture of a AT pro on here a while back, that was dirty, used hard and put up dirty..
Get dirt in the grease on the o-rings,, that's not good....
And if the coil or head phone o-ring was not seated right, then water gets in...
Saw a picture of a AT Pro that had a cracked case,, how does that happen, just a thought,
maybe it was in 100 deg sun for while, then used under water.....
If I were to use my AT under water,I would clean it up real good, replace all the O-Rings and
use some Petroleum Jelly on the o-rings, and not do the dry fit, that can some tome put a little cut in the o-ring...

Just throwing this out here...
