Seminole Indian War button

JMC

New member
Found this button a couple of hours ago in the backyard next door. We had dug up a lemon tree there for replanting last year it was in that area. It was down about 8 inches, the Vaquero gave a strong signal in the loose sandy soil. Look carefully you can see the eagle and the D in the center shield which indicated Dragoons.
I've added a second picture with a better angle to see details.

Great find JMC. I have a site that has produced a dozen or so Dragoon buttons. One of my favorite buttons to find. Congratulations.

that looks old to

Now thats a great find,The Vaq is the deepest machine I've ever owned.Might have to get me some post hole diggers.:jump:HH

Dont you love the feeling when you pop something out and dont know what it is yet. Id be spitting on that button and a make a gentle mud slurry to see the details even though I know I shouldnt do that. Cool find .

I don't want to sound to dumb, but, what is DRAGOON. I have never heard that before... KEN

Ken, the Dragoons were mounted troops prior to civil war. Revier gives a more detailed account in one of his post in Today's Finds form.
