Why must I torture myself?!? I ordered my new AT Pro, should be here next week, and there's NO WAY I'll be able to use it until the end of march hopefully (the farmer's almanac predicts loads of snow deep into April:veryangry:) On top of that my wife got me a Pro-Pointer for Christmas...

I wanted to wait to order the Pro until it had been out for a while, and I could hear what everybody thought about it. It seems like the right detector for me, although the Minelabs were a contender. I decided to stick with Garrett for many reasons. One major reason is because I love to listen to the sounds coming from my detector, not always relying on the screen. I think that the Garrett machines really speak to the user audibly, once a person learns the language. I did consider the issues that have been raised with the Pro, but they seemed like trivial things that don't really matter. That whole thing about the coil falsing seemed a little weak to me...I think I could invent a number of ways to make my detector malfunction, like taking the coil off and waving it directly in the path of the shaft and wire. Seemed lame to me.

Anyway, I'm still not smoking cigarettes (one whole month tomorrow), but looking forward to using my smoking new detector!!!

Congratulations on your stop smoking milestone. Stay off the cigs and it may increase the years you will be able to put the soil to the coil. Ron from sunny and warm SE Louisiana.

Well done...congrats !! I've been un-hooked from cigs for 7 years now.

Yeah it killed my great grandmother. She smoked a corn cob pipe right up until the day she died at 105. HAA.

That's exactly how I quit. I promised myself many years ago that with the money I saved, I would buy my first real good metal detector. Mine was a GTAx 500. It really proved to myself that with a little bit of ambition and a little common sense, one could get a lot of satisfaction, fun and not to mention a lot of coins and jewellery.

I have been blessed:thumbup:
