Selecting the Number of Tones

my hearing sucks but I do hear the high tones better than the mid, I found I do much better with lower than max.

Might mess with them a little more as I think I could get better results with out having to listen for just one of the many higher tones.

I really like having fewer tones because it's much easier on my ear. I wound up with limits 6, variability 5, and gain 5. I was working a trashy area and it seemed much easier to find and investigate targets above iron. Audio 1 or 2 was too much so I stuck with Normal but I can see their value in less trashy areas.

But here's my question, what are the draw backs of only having 4 or 5 tones? I dont't think I'm losing any depth at these settings and I can bump the gain back up in less trashy areas. It would seem the only draw back would be ID'ing some targets by sound. Though a good target and a trash target falling in the same tone may still sound different.
