SEF or WOT coil???

Does anyone here have both 15in Coiltek WOT coil and the big SEF coil for the Sovereign? Is one better than the other? How so? I am looking to buy a bigger coil for my Sov GT but not sure which way to go.

Thanks

Cheers

I two am thinking of buying one (15in Coiltek WOT coil and the big SEF coil)for my Sovereign Gt and would like to have some up to date information the post that Rob refers to is over a year old and all through Rob is helping the info is not up to date. Does any one have any new caparisons or info.

I just bought a new 12X15 to try, a few guys recommended it so I will give it a shot but it will be a week or so before I can post how I like it.
The WOT is a proven performer, you cant go wrong, Ive had a few of them and they go deep and have excellent stability/sensititivity.
Ive mounted up the 12X15 and I dont care what anyone posts about its weight, it feels as heavy or almost as heavy as the WOT. It feels a good deal heavier than the 12X10 I have and the 10" Tornado coil. The coverage should be excellent and heavy weight can easily be forgotten if it produces good/great finds.
I had to try it as I really like all the other SEFs Ive tried. Ive got two 12X10s, one for my Sov, one for my Explorer and I have the 6X8 for my Explorer. I did have one SEF that didnt perform well so if you try one and it doesnt work well, try another. There are differences I dont care what anyone says otherwise. Ive seen it in both detectors and coils.

7 days a week work is getting old

For me the 15x12 got less depth in my high mineral land sites than the stock 10" coil. About 8 or 9" max on a dime, maybe a little more. Other than that it was better than stock in all other aspects. In the sand it did get deeper than stock and I'm not sure why because my beaches are mineralized too. One tip: I found this coil got more depth if you didn't max out sensitivity. For coverage it was awesome and if I was just a beach or open field hunter I would have kept it. I find the 12x10 gets deeper on land for me. Remove the coil cover and the 15x12 weighs (I think from memory) less than the stock 10" Tornado. So far the 12x10 is my prefered land coil and I relegate the stock 10" coil to water hunting now.

I've had both and I don't thint there's much difference in depth. You right about the weight, they're pretty close. I use the swingy thing. It makes hunting much more pleasant. My vote goes to the SEF. The WOT just seems too wide for me. It also seems harder to keep the piviot point tight at the end of the rod. One thing I noticed and I haven't used it on the beach, It runs better and is deeper with the sensitivity arount the 1 to 2 oclock position. Crank it much past 12 oclock and it's not as deep in my ground.I can run the 10 by 12 pretty hot. The 12 by 15 is different. I think you will like it.

THanks all for your input. There seems to be some differing opinions on this one. I think I will go with the SEF coil. I'll let you know how I go

Exactly how I feel...1 or 2PM for the 15x12 while max stable setting with the 12x10.

Interesting thoughts.
