SEF coils for M6

I'd dearly love to hear from anyone who has experience with the SEF coils available for the M6/DFX/MXT/Spectra. I will be using them on my M6. I love my 4x6 DD coil, but if I could get as good or better separation AND more depth from the 6x8 SEF coil, I think I would have to scrape up the coins to get one.

I'd especially like to hear from anyone who's compared them to the DD coils of comparable size (4x6, 6x10, 10x14).

Thanks.

Hey Phillip
I have the 10 X 12 sef coil and like it alot. It seems to lock on to the target and give a little better audio on the deeper targets that I have tested it on. I hope this helps

I can't compare to other DD coils, the 6x8 is my first and I'm loving it. I've pulled alot of nickles with it which is unsual for me. I think it is more sensitive than my 5.3 and do have to work it slower, maybe thats why I'm hitting the nickels more, but it seperates great and just doesn't miss anything. I'l be saving for a bigger SEF for the open areas. The few people here that have the 6x8 have had nothing but good things to say about it but I too would like to here a comaprison between it and the 6x10. I have mine on a M6 the other users here I think have MXT's but I would think it would work the same on both machines.

Hello I have both the white 6x10 coil and the 8x6 sef coil for my MXT . Now this is just my opinion but I had been using a Detech 8 inch DD coil cause I wasn't satisfied with the depth I was getting out of the 6x10 . Lots of people rave about how deep the 6x10 gets for them but that was not the case for me . The Detech was sort of heavy for me but did get good depth , but may not be for anyone younger . Now I got the sef butterfly 8x6 coil about three weeks ago and I really love it ,its getting good depth dug a 1960 dime last week at 9 inches with a vdi reading at that depth and also dug a 1942 wheat penny on the same day at 8 inches had good signal on it also . That is the second silver dime I have dug with it before that I was missing them . It is easy on the arm I can swing it three to four hours and not be near as tired as I was before, my legs will give out now before my arm does . Like they said before you have to slow down and not rush it but it does great . Hope if you get one you enjoy it as much as I am .

Great stuff! Thanks for all the replies. Sounds like an SEF might be in my future after all. How is the weight of the 10 x 12? (I'm telling you the 4x6 has ruined me for weight! It's so light I can swing it all day!)

I'd never consider giving up my 4x6, but the 6x10, stock coil and Super 12 are all up for grabs if I can find coils with a little better depth and better separation. I'm wondering if the big 12x18 SEF might be the replacement for my bigfoot?

I just bought a 6x8 SEF coil it coming soon ill let you know how good it is. i've heard alot of good things about it can't wait to use it

I've been using the SEF coils for a while and have had some good results with them on my M6. I mainly use the 6X8 SEF in demo's with iron and in high trash areas. I have used the 10X12 SEF a few times and have been impressed with it's ability to pull good targets from iron littered areas. Just go slow and listen for good tones (trigger forward). I can get about 6 inches in harsh ground with the 6X8. They pinpoint very precise and they work great! I would say the depth is about average but the ability of these coils to work in trash is pretty impressive. They work good on my V3 except when you turn on Tx boost then everything goes bad. The D2 coil is deeper than the 10X12 on the V3 in my soil. Hey Bob your 6X8 SEF coil should be there in a couple of days and yes I still have another 6X8 on my M6. I was so impressed with the 6X8 I got 2 of them! I will add that I've also had good results with the White's 6X10 coil but still prefer the 6X8 in high trash/iron littered areas.

the sef 6x8 is my next coil. i have the 10x12 sef and love it. i get ok depth with my 6x10 DD but im always up for trying new things so i may order that 6x8 this week. as far as 10x12 goes its very stable, deeper than any of my whites coils and separates better.
