SEF coil may have stuffed my Silver umax

targets

Member
it was ok at first but now when i turn on it makes continual bleeping noises . I
rang up p e n t e c h nic the UK repairers company and they say it has to be re calibrated for a SEF coil ,you cant just swap coils over willy nilly ,so its going back for repair and recal for the SEF coil only .

There was no need to recalibrate my Silver uMax with the 12x10 SEF coil at all. I have just put in on and never used another one:) Really deep. I think there is something wrong with your Silver, as I have used
the SEF on two different units with the same great results. However re-calibrating might bring the combo to another level?

that what i was told by the repairers who repair all UK machines for the makers ,it will need recalibrating for a SEF coil ,although when it worked it seemed ok to me ,maybe there is a better performance with a recal 'awaiting

my pal said its an easy job to adjust for another coil ,says there was a lead on youtube for recalibrating tesoro coils but havent found it yet

i figured out how to adjust for a bigger coil .open up the front and look on the circuit board for a trim pot with a cross head ,if you adjust one way depth gets less but anti clockwise the depth gets more .it doesnt have much turns so you cant get lost on the turns.
saved me 50 pounds by doing it myself .

That must be the ground balance trimmer. That will not help much if one gets constant beeping...you can set it to your coil conditions, but it varies only very little with the coil you have.

i fixed the constant beeping problem by running the SEF coil cable straight up the stem and not winding it round and round the stem.the cable is thicker and didnt like all the turns ,maybe it caused a bad connection somewhere along the line.
fixed it with velcro clips round the stem .

Never have used a SEF coil, but constant beeping has usually been caused by the batteries dieing on my machines.

i noticed on my vaq it has been beeping alot and the coil cable was the bugger, so i pretty much solved that with the velcro method of strap, does anybody know what causes the beeping if not strapped tight to the pole?

i have seen this issue mentioned in advanced detecting books ,where they suggest not winding the coil up the stem but strap it direct to the stem.straight up to the box.it fixed my problem of unwanted beeping issues
