Seems Strange

Every day my wife takes our daughter to work and stops at the parks for a hour or so to detect on the way home. She got her usual around $2.00 of clad coins today and tells me no nickels. I haven't given it much thought but now that I think of it since using the 4" coil on my (our) F4 I haven't found a single nickel with it either and very very few pull tabs. What's up with that? I'm not discriminating them out, I'm using the factory discriminate mode & nothing notched out. Any ideas? Thanks! Steve.

Hi Ski - I know nothing of your detector but on my 1266 if I put the disc up to around 6 I get no nickels and pulltabs. I run it around 3 normally and get lots. Sounds like the factory pre set is a little high. Steve in so az

Hey that makes alot of sense, if I ever get done haying here on the farm I will do alittle experimenting by putting a nickel on the ground & going over it. I would of never thought about the too high factory set disc. though and I have been at this hobby log enough that I should of. Thanks for the tip Steve. Steve...
