Seems like the same story "Mohave" guys buy em dont even use em put up for sell cheap

Possibly did use them once and did not see what all the hype is about them. I'm sure they are the best $250 detector on the market. Yet, they are just a $250 detector also. Guess they did not take all the initial online rave over them with a grain of salt and ended up disappointed when reality set in with it's actual performance. Some can probably hit a piece of foil that a fly crapped out at 12 inches with it and some will believed that also... lol

Loving mine so far.
Lots of folks buy almost every new machine that comes out to test,
and more times than not sell them off.
I've only been at this a year and already know two such people.
I guess haters gonna hate.

Noah

Not all machines work well in all soil conditions and it doesn't take months or years to know whether a newly purchased unit is an improvement compared to others they may own.
I own a couple Tesoros, not a Mojave, for their great iron handling abilities in my high mineralized soil but with few iron targets I use a Minelab or Makro.
Best of luck with what works best for you!

Seems like there is a lot of Mojave posts out there??:tesoro:

So far I am liking mine. Been finding some deep nickles.. KEN

I really like my Mojave and don't plan on getting rid of it. If I decided not use it as a land machine I would waterproof it and use it for a fresh water wading machine. For me it fills a niche with my other detectors. Currently I run an Outlaw and a Whites surfmaster dual field ,but the Mojave is my grab it and go machine.

Not the only detector this happens to. Just last week on the Whites forum a poster was wondering about no posts on the MX5. I use my Compadre and MX5 often and really enjoy them. Would love the Mojave, but the Compadre handles MY sites just fine. The time to look for "the" detector is as a newbie or, as a frequent user, whenever RADICAL changes in technology come. But getting out and USING is where it's at.

This type of thing happens. Alot with Tesoro. I blame the buyers lack of research.
I've seen many sold with description "selling to buy machine with VDI or TID" or "tried in test bed, same tone for dime and iron"

Tesoro are, for now besides the golden and Cortes in sum mode, a one tone machine. There's alot of information in that one tone, but it takes time to learn.
Many new to the hobby want a detectors that practically digs the hole for them. Little do they k ow, in my experience, those bells and whistles can cause you to miss targets if you aren't familiar with the readouts, averaging, differences of soil conditions, etc.

So I see the total of 13 that I've seen sold on the bay as a very small number compared to the fact that they have probably sold tens of thousands of units.

Again I think it's the people that never used a Tesoro and/or don't understand them or are used to the multimeters screen detectors that have resold them quickly.
The gent I bought my 2nd unit from at a steal said he bought it only to run it through the test bed for data reasons in something he's putting together Co.paring cost/depth/separation/disc abilities for every unit he can use. The Mojave being so new, he just bought it, tested it, then sold to me for $30 less than he paid. Full warranty.

I looked at the classified after reading this post.
Seems that all these Mojaves sell in a day or two.
Obviously nobody likes them. Haha

Lol.
I hate it so much I have 2. Just because lol.

Even though I have two of the "fancy" detectors, I still grab my Vaquero a lot of the time. Detecting without the distraction of the screen and just listening to the subtlety of the V's tone is relaxing. As others have said, that tone can tell you a lot.

Lots of good replys I bought one recently for 215.00 great price I think always have used Tesoro units not impressed with all of them but that's just me . I want to see how it does in my hunting environment and along side my Shadow I think it will be a keeper for me .

I saw a few for that price but the owners sent in the warranty card.
I always hold onto the warranty card. There's no time limit to send it in. But if I like the machine I'll send it in.
But considered just holding it that way if I sell it down the road the new owner gets the warranty.
My personal opinion is that if the warranty card is blank then I'll pay more.
A vaq w/o warranty I'd pay 225 maybe 250 if it looks pristine but with the warrant card I'd pay 300 or maybe a little more.
Non GB units is another story. I won't pay much for them at all. Only buy those for good prices. If they had the warranty card I might pay more. But people seem to like to put their engineer hats on with those and most of the time when they start adjusting the trimmer pots, they need to be sent in.
I got my cibola for 200 and it's super clean. Got it with plans to mod it, which I did. But I wouldn't pay that much unless it was really clean. Sure enough before I modded it, I went outside and checked the GB and it was really positive. Someone played with it. But after my mod it didn't matter. I adjust it myself now.

But point of this post is that if there's a warranty card on a Mojave, like my second one was, I'll pay close to new prices. But if not, it would have to be a good deal because I add in $75 it will cost to ship to Tesoro and pay the $50.

Many don't give their new detectors enough time to learn the language. Just because it's cheap doesn't mean you don't have to give time to learning it. A lot of people do not like the Tejon, but when you take the time to learn it, it's a beast and will keep up with detectors twice it's price. :beers:

Well I can chalk many up to people's first Tesoro purchase and like I said, didn't research even a little to know it's not a 99 tone machine with screen etc.
Most description I've read on eBay is that they tried it, but want something with a screen. Or they say, "same tone for iron as silver, what's wrong? I can't use this!!"

I was told by Allen that you don't.
He said if I had a Tesoro 5 years old and noone sent in the card I can.

My compadre was 3 months old by the time I sent mine in.
Says nowhere on the whole card or literature above it it's attached to that you have to.
