seeking new coil

I was actually thinking of getting rid of my EX II but then decided to keep it. Now I want a new coil. I have the stock 10.5 coil and was wondering what you guys suggest as an alternate? I was considering Excellerator 6 or 8 inch. But value all of your opinions for coil selection. Thank you in advance.

Hello K.
My favorite coil is the Sun Ray X-8. It is slightly larger than the ML 8" and is super lightweight. It has great depth and seperation too. I would say my deepest find was a Canadian Large cent down at about 11" (using the SR X-:geek:. Of course that coin is slightly larger than a US quarter. It gave a nice signal.

I cannot speek to the other coils you mentioned since I have not used them.

Hope this helps and HH - Robin

I'd have to say my favorite coil has to be my 8x6sef. I have dug some really deep targets with it. My pro coil is a little deeper but the separation is awesome. Not sure about the deepest coin but I dug a deep Indian head at around 7 or 8 inches with two pieces of rusty iron in the hole. Probly my favorite find. Good luck, Joe.

I agree with surfman -- the 6x8 is a deep coil, not quite as deep as the pro coil, but 7-8" coins can be dug with the 6x8, even in my somewhat bad dirt. I have the Pro coil, the SunRay X-5, and the 6x8 SEF. I like them all, and use them all, but the 6x8, with its "in between" size, stays on my machine the most.
