This is what it looks like at my house today.

It's been cold and windy. I've been waiting for it to warm up some.

I'm fixing to go back to the wood chips. Most other places are muddy now. I don't want to be cold and muddy.

Best wishes for 2008,

Good Luck...when you going to invent the Arky barky "Ice breaker" for us Northern boys ??

Hay El, if the bark is composting, only the top will be frozen. All I need is a 3" hole and Arky Barky will pull a big plug out, Ice & all. It doesn't even stress the tool. It does it with ease.

Up til now only my metal detector has worked that well. I stumbled accross a good one. Too bad it only works in wood chips.

As long as my MD's don't let me down I'll be doing good.;)

:beers:

you should be thankful you can still detect!..the rest of us are gone 'till spring!

Hi everyone and Happy New Year. I hear that most people aren't detecting during the winter? Sounds like many people hunt for clads and jewelry in a lot of posts to the forums. Has anybody ever considered detecting the snow banks in parking lots? I have tried this and have come up with change, keys and the occasionally piece of jewelry. I used to see some older man looking over the snowbanks and sometimes pick something up. He always returned during his walk as the snow banks would melt. This exposes the next layer for him to look for more coins. So I took his idea and brought my metal detector and was fairly successful. Nice on sunny but cold days. Let me know what you think. Gives you something to do and gets you some exercise and let's you detect all year long (Sorry to some of the spouses!):( Just a thought.

Fantastic post coinnut, that is something I've never even thought about, but it sure seems like a great idea.
The winter is still young,I can almost see myself giving that a try, okay so maybe I can see some of you
guys doing it .

That'd never happen E.......she'd wait until I was on packed dirt, asphalt, or concrete.........no soft landings for me :ranting:

Of course it would depend on what was buried in the ground behind me as to which direction I'd get knocked. I've learned to stay between her & the truck until she starts detecting :surrender:.......ever get between a pitbull & a porkchop???.....not the place to be......
