Second Time Out with Max

RLOH

Well-known member
I got a used Max last week and have had it out twice with some success. First day, I went to a spot I call Indian Head Hill. It is loaded with rusty nails and modern trash. I did not find any Indians, but I did find two wheats mixed in with the nails. Both wheats had two and three rusty nails in the mix. My previous AT Pros were great at this type of detecting and the max was just as good.

Todays hunt was the best day I have ever had for Buffalo nickels. I found three Buffalos and all were 8 to 9 inches deep and surrounded by rusty nails, beaver tails, and pull tabs. The deepest was a sharp date 1918 and was 9 inches deep under a large flat rock. One of the others was a 1921 and had a rusty nail and folded up pull tab. It was 8 inches deep. I have found couple of hundred Buffalo nickels over the last 20 years, but never three in one day so I guess I have bonded with the Max.

The wireless headphones are absolutely fantastic. Comfortable, clean sounding, and no lag. The Max is slightly more sparky than the AT Pros that I have used, but I guess it good to have too much power instead of too little. All in all a pretty nice detector package!
