I went back to the same area ,and 60' away I got another one !
I didn't rub this one at all, dropped it in olive oil.
This came from a small town that died around 1910.
It sure is nice being away from it all, just me and the woods.......

WTG!!! You have two large cents and two more than I have ever found. Large cents and seated coins seem to elude my area for some reason. HH.

Thanks James. My crappy camera does not show it too well. I did no cleaning at all to the second one, and there is very little definition- I sure would like to know the best way to clean them.
Bill in Pa.

It should loosen up the crud on it and you should be able to take a tootbrush or small scrub brush to it to get any build-up off of it. Good Luck and hope you can post pics sometime when possible.

found one on Sunday and knew what it was as soon as I felt it's weight in my hand. Really cool to dig one of these!

1796 LC which is the second one I had found with EX II. It was only 3-4 inches deep and figured another rusty clad quarter. Nope and I nicked it with my brass coin probe. But they come out really crusty in many places in PA.
