Water test #2 with the AQUA ACE went perfect! The silicone tape I wrapped around the cable extension prevented water from getting at the connection and the jewellery mode read all the following targets shown below. I made it a point of digging every target (you should anyway ) and that brought me some coins and the usual expected junk targets too. Pretty good considering that the place had already been hunted prior to me getting there, as there were many craters still around. I didn't get any gold, but the satisfaction of having what started out as an idea turn to reality , and work so well is fine with me.

Below is a "PAIR OF ACES"......... ( I couldn't resist)

John,
I also use my 250 in shallow water and would like to go a little deeper, are the connectors available like at Radio Shack ??? and what kind of cable did you use???/
I'd like to just mount the box in my boat for about chest deep huntin in the river, yep I use a life perserver in case I step into a hole then the only thing I need to worry about would be the headphones.

I wrote an article some years ago on a rig for water hunting to hold the control box. Take a small inner tube and cut a piece of round plywood to fit snug in the center of the tube. Drill some small holes around the edge of the plywood and run some nylon electrical fasteners through the holes and around the tube. Mount a velcro strap in the center of the plywood to cinch the control box down. Use a small piece of rope to tie the float to your belt or whatever. If you're worried about water splashing up through the tiny holes in the plywood just dab a bit of sealant on each one.
