Second hunt results in my biggest gold find!

I made it back out to the beach on Sunday as I planned. I never thought I could have topped find silver and gold both on the same day from this beach, but it happened!

I managed to find an 18 gram gold ring along with another silver ring. I also dug pounds of tabs, aluminum scrap, and other junk but it was worth it. As nice as it was to find this honker of a ring, it's a current year school ring with a full name, so it will be going back to it's owner.

I hope to have the video posted on YouTube tomorrow.

Here are the pics of the gold!

Im starting to dislike class rings lol. Makes you do research and with a name..... most go home. Nice finds

Yep, I just spoke to the young man and this ring is going home tomorrow. I hate to send away such a huge chunk of gold, but when an owner can be found it goes back. After all, it's not a discarded item, it's lost. For me to keep it would be wrong.

Keeping it would be your choice imo. Its not really wrong. ... imo. Btw they are usually under warranty. What id be wondering, an this is why I am so hesitant to return, is did the person already get a new one under the warranty? Would they tell you? Im 18. Just lost my ring. Just scored a brand new one...when some dude with a metal detector tracks me down an asks if im missing a 17 gram hunk of gold....hehe you bet I am. Nice find and a good deed done on your part!

Sure they could have got it replaced But from my experience I don't believe most do. I have returned over 30 and lost track, Another great poster on here is on his 44th. I have mixed feelings. BUT I do believe good carma comes my way and thats why I find so many I can't return. The week before last I found a 1924, 1935 and a 1943. Researching the 35 and the 24 but the 43 is unreturnable. No initials inside. The 1924 will be hard cause if she was 18 when she graduated she would be 105 years old. (If my math is right!!) I might be able to to find kin BUT unlikely they would care.

I do believe it is a detectorists decision and I have a few friends that keep all. We ALL have different viewpoints and I think most of us would refuse to cram our views down one anothers throat. So do what you want with your treasures and have fun finding them. The treasure hunters I dispise are the ones that demand an upfront payment and then SUPOSEDLY do NOT find the article. I have met ONE. He STOLE the 15 grand ring AFTER he took 300.00 cash to look for it. Its those people that are terrible.

Joeb, I never really thought about the insurance issue. From my conversations with the loser (lol, it seems wrong to call him that) and his mother, the ring was never replaced. They both seemed very greatful to be getting the ring back.
