Wow was I amazed today. I thought 100% for sure that I was digging another zinc penny. I mean come on 12-35??? Zinc for sure right? No way Jose.

Dig the zinc!!!!!!! I used to pass on them all time. Boy am I glad that I decided NOT to on this occasion.

14k at 10.4 oz on my scale. Melt about $546? 28.3g = 1oz, so $1502 = 1oz. 15470.6 divided by 28.3 = $546???

I know that this is melt only. A pawn shop would only give me half?

For some strange reason admin won't let me edit my own post but here is what I found out.

Step 1. Select weight type: gram

Step 2. Select the purity: 14 k

Step 3. Enter the weight : 10.5 Troy Ounces

14 Karat
58.3% 0.196811 $295.37

12-35 very interesting.

Wow! That's an awesome ring! Even though it can be a zincoln, I will dig it, because I have found several indian heads and a nice civil war button with a 12-35 reading. Congrats on the nice find.

wow that is so cool! congratulations....thats a lot of money no matter how its sliced.

i always get confused when it comes to grams, ounces, troy ounces, etc... if there was a web page out there that explains it all that would be a good read.

do we use ounces or troy ounces?

Enter your weight and karat in there and it will tell you to about the fifth significant digit what it is worth.

GREAT find!!

that's why I LOVE hunters that say the ALWAYS pass on the zincs,,,, heck leave all the pull tabs for me also LOL CONGRATS

Very nice find and great pictures. A HUGE Congratulations. I see a lot more zincolns being unearthed now....

After about

Beautiful Ring. Congratulations. I always dig 12-35's. I would also hate to pass up
a chance of finding a gold or silver ring.

Whenever I am at a new site I always dig the 12-35 signal...at least until my pouch gets lopside from zincs! At old sites you have to dig the 12-35 since that is classic Indian Head.

Thanks for all of the kind remarks all !

Also thanks for this link. It makes it so easy to determine value. I've been thinking about trying to find the owner. It's got a three digit marriage date ending in 91 and the weird part??? It has three separate initials on the inside?? What? My wife was thinking that maybe one set of initials came from a child that was brought into the marriage? Anyway, I've heard now a days it's becoming harder and harder to access personal info on many of the county marriage license websites. I'll give it a go and see what happens.

Question. So if the melt value of the ring is $292 does that mean this is what I can expect to get if I take it to a "we buy gold place?" I'm not going to because I really enjoy keeping what I find...lol even the clad change I've found, about 200 bucks. Or should I expect to get multiple low ball offers from different places? I just wouldn't mind knowing what the street value is.

any description,or id inside?..just wondering!

(h.h.!)

Now you've done it! :detecting: I've been passing up shallow zincs looking for the deeper oldies. I haven't found a gold ring in a park for ages and I dig my share of low conductors too. Looks like I'm going to have to dig more zinc hits now :heh: Great looking ring and super pictures! Nice find:thumbup:

Great find! I dug a 12-34 earlier this year and it turned out to be a big man's gold band. I will dig penny signals always because every once in awhile I'll get a gold or silver ring. To me it's worth the effort.

Typically from my experience a "we buy gold" place will only give you about 40-50% of melt value, maybe a bit higher for a really good place. If you are ever going to sell your gold you are better off sending it to a refinery like ARAgold, or MidWest Refineries. ARAgold will give you 98% of melt value on gold, plus remove and return stones. Midwest gives 95% of melt value on gold. Both have good/decent reputations.

By the way, Congrat's on the great find!
