Second gold ring this year for XT30!

As Yukon Cornelius would say...Waaaahoooooo!
Found a ladies wedding band today at a park. 4" deep, 18K too!
Pictures turned out fuzzy, I'll try again later. My camera isn't the best. Love the XTerra 30 though!
Also, welcome to Chuck at Treasurehut!
He is a good guy and won't steer you wrong. He made me a great deal on an Explorer2 which I can't wait to get my hands on.
Meantime, the XTerra is helping me pay for some accessories for the Ex2.

Great find! How do you have your 30 set up? What was the segment number it showed? I also have a 30 model and have dug a lot of tabs in the number 12 range. I dig all number 12's but find the iffy beeps are always tabs. Do you dig broken 12's ? Thanks, Kenny

Hi Kenny;
I have dug my share of pull tabs. I started out digging everything in the 12-16 range, and 8-12 range too. The more I dig the more I find that I can tell which signals (sounds) are what type of tabs. I am no expert by any means, but I am learning.
My machine is set up with only the first two bars on discriminate locked out. The gold ring sounded solid, no broken tones like many 12-16 ID signals. So lately I have only been digging the "good, solid" sounding tones. The display #'s may jump from 12-16 (it did with this ring) but the tone was solid. I have a very small 10k test ring I use and it registers 8-12. So I try and dig every signal that is similar to that too.
I did end up with about 30 tabs that day I got the ring, but I'd dig 30 tabs again for another!
I am also reading "Finding rings with the Minelab Sovereign and Excalibur" by CJC. He posts here on findmall and his book is on ebay too. Although this is not a Sov or Excal, the methods and tips he give in the book are beneficial for all detectors and I have found it has helped me out alot!
Well, sorry this is so long, but like many people say, dig, dig, dig. The more you dig and listen to the tones, the more you will learn and be able to discriminate with your ears what you are hearing.
Good luck and don't get discouraged. I don't know if you are a fisherman or not, but they say the Muskie is a fish of 1000 casts, the gold ring is the find of 1000 tabs. Or less as you learn more.
Take Care and HH

You have lots of amazing finds. It knocks my socks off to check in here and see what you have found lately.
I am learning lots, reading a good book on detecting, and getting the chance the spend a little more time out in the field.
Take care and keep up the posts! It is an encouragement to us who do not find stuff with such regularity!
