Seawater

tcp

Member
I read somewhere that seawater allows the detector to detect deeper. Do you think it would be of any value in regular soil? I also noticed that even in coin mode, at the beach, I can go from dry sand to wet sand and then dip the coil in the ocean without the machine making a sound. The seawater setting does not even need to be set. This works in coin mode as well as beach and relic modes. I did not try the other two modes. The ctx works very well for beach hunting.

The manual says to turn it off when inland. I believe seawater is a form of discrimination, and discrimination = less depth, when not needed. I would and have heard to keep it off when not at the beach, but I could be wrong. I found this excerpt from the manual that I thought was interesting about swing speed with seawater on.

"With Seawater on, keeping your
sweep speed as fast as possible
will provide maximum depth.
Most beaches are non-mineralized,
therefore greater depth can
be achieved using the highest
stable Manual Sensitivity setting.
DO NOT Ground Balance at the
beach – leave GB disabled"
