Seated Liberty Dime

New member
Went back to the wooded area of the park today. Same area I found the barber quarter yesterday.I used the Vaquero with 5.75 inch concentric. Minimum discrimination ,sens set at 10 and threshold on the last O of the Tesoro logo. Theres a bluff down in the woods. I found a place where one could climb down there if they wanted. I didnt climb down myself but looked for the most obvious place for an old path to lead to it. Thats where I found the 1891 dime. Also found an ammo clip , misc bullets , and a gold plated flower shaped pin. The pin has a nice stone in the middle.I think its glass because its plated but I dont know. Anyway , my last two coins found are a 1903 quarter and 1891 dime. Not finding many coins but they are old.

Great find with the seated dime, congrats !

Now thats Hot ,, I would greek out if that came out of the ground , don't give away your spot Got to be more

I'm like you rainy, I would rather find one old coin versus a bunch of clad but in reality, a pocket full of clad dimes and quarters could buy you a couple of silver dimes easily.
Great find hatpin, you're making us vaquero owners proud.

Great finds for sure how old is the stirrup in the pic could it be civil war period ?

We could go to ebay and buy lots of silver with the clad, BUT we both know that one we dug is worth way more!!!!

Hatpins success just goes to show you to quit beating the same ground that has been beaten again and again by detectors for years. Get off the beaten path where others haven't gone. Tabman is right, it all comes down to location. Lately things have been boom or bust for me because I have started doing more like hatpin. Okay, I gotta admit it's been more bust that boom!

Hatpin,
How deep was the dime and other targets you found in the wooded area?

Again one silver coin will make the whole hunt a greater one. Knowing about where the people would be using paths improves making good finds. That is some good hunting skills. Great work Hatpin....Z

Most of these finds were not real deep. The dime , maybe two inches. Now the barber Quarter I found yesterday was a good 6 inches at least. I was surprised it was a quarter because of how quiet the signal was. The dime was loud.

Me too. Ive been coin collecting since the 60s when I was a kid. Old coins are what Im after.

Liberty coins are some of my all-time favorites. :clapping: I think it's about time I take another adventurous trip to some old-town renovation work in a big city, or just head to an old-town 'site'. I need another Seated Liberty 'fix.' as it's been a year.

Best of success, if you venture out there again. It's been productive now on two trips, so another wouldn't hunt to try.

I have found over fifty old coins from this site. they are just getting harder to find. The two best finds here are two 1914 D pennies.
