It would be a combination of all of those things Elton. I picked up a new detector:minelab: early this past spring, I had some good leads on a few spots that produced some good stuff. And there was a bit of luck involved also. And I did get out and detect every single chance I got. It helps to have an understanding wife too, even more so when she gets to pick and choose from the jewelry that is found. She is extremely supportive because she knows it's better than having to chase me out of some bar every weekend .. ... I never was much of a drinker anyways. And that black hills gold & silver ring with the diamond fits her finger perfectly !! It will be hard to top this year I think, given my geographical location. The town that I live in was'nt incorporated until 1903, so naturally there is less here than older areas of the US. But, there is certainly more here to find. I think that next year I will focus more on older private homes and farms. The one big park we have up here is 100 years old, but tough hunting. Honestly I can't figure it out. Common sense tells me it should be full of old coins, but it took me two years just to find one merc dime and a handful of wheats. I'm not going to waste too much time there anymore. Take care and HH !!

Nice year McDave. I know you have a pretty short hunting year up there. I've come to really like hunting the old resorts when I get up there. Have a great winter and each day gets you closer to spring. HH jim tn
