Searching Sidewalk grass strips. Anyone have any luck there?

Tried it today on four streets. Nice neighborhood, 1800's houses, slate sidewalks. Found plenty of memorial penny's. Too much trash to get a clean signal from deeper coins. Used a small coil, then the standard 8 inch coil, disc turned up to hear coins only. Gotta be silver there. Anyone have any tips.

Yea, I've had most of my luck along old side walks, I just make sure I have permission from the house owner first. The street side of the side walk is where I begin my search, I use one of my ID machines and try listening for the weak coin signals. I dig all coin signals, but concentrate on the deep ones. Then if I start finding old wheat pennys and silver coins I start diging the lower nickle range of signals hoping for a gold ring. Once the street side of the side walk starts to peter out, I'll switch to the house side. You should do well on those type of sights jabbo, just check with the home owners first because they take care of that side of their property. Thanks Hombre. Seems to be working for you. Will try a few more streets.

Found my first gold wedding band on a sidewalk hunt,, tried it a few weeks ago,, trash drove me nuts,, may just need to go back and clean out the trash and then do some serious hunting,, probably will wait till college lets out for the summer,,

When I detect strips that are old I have had great luck with coins from 1880-1960 a few rings and buttons.

Grass strips can be wonderful spots. Be carefull, though, many property owners look upon grass strips as part of their own lawn. I love to hunt the strips bordering old parks, schools fairgrounds, swimming pools, and the like. These types usually present few problems as they aren't in front of homes. Good luck. HH jim tn

Grass strips can produce some great stuff. I found my oldest coin, 1900 Barber dime in one. In my area, these areas are public, but check in your location.
Good Luck!

Sometimes they produce well. The ones that don't, I wonder if someone else already been hitting them. But I have got some nice coin on the strips near old town sections. Not much jewelery for me, but very much junk at times, especially at/near any buss stops. Small coil, old trees, oh watch out for those angry squirrels. And some of the home owners will stare out the window watching and act like you didn't see them. Those are the ones that are okay. But when little kids spot ya, watch out. Those on bicycles too.
