searching 1900 home site which coil to use and in which order

I have exclusive permission on two sites with two homes with early 1900 ear homes still standing. One is 1 acre with one home and the other is 6 acres with home and old barn and foundations of old out buildings.
I have an AT Pro and am wondering which coil to use first. I am thinking about using the Garrett 5x8" coil first to clean up the easy finds and trash and then go back over with the Garrett 8 x 11" coil to find the deeper targets.

The question is does this coil selection process make sense?

Also any other helpful suggestions will be appreciated.

To me it doesn't. I'd just hunt it with the stock coil and see what might be there. Find out where the really trashy spots are and come back with the small coil. I always take the larger coil to go over a new spot. You just cover more ground and get an idea of what's there. That's just me. Good luck.

I tend to agree since I can hunt more ground faster with the AT Pro stock coil. Also kind of want to get an idea of the lay of the land and the productive spots. Nice to find some old things to show the home owner who gave me permission to hunt this property that has never been hunted since he as owned it for 35 years. If I do a good job I get a shot at hunting the next door neighbors 6 acre home site, barn and old out building. I have a 50/50 agreement with the home owner. So far nothing valuable, but several historic items which I always give to the home owner since this is a hobby. But find a cache of gold and silver coins, well that is what the written agreement is for.
