search coil upgrades for the Ace 150, and would it be worth it?

My opinion, for what it's worth, would be to upgrade to at least an Ace 250. It has pinpointing which will make your detecting easier, and more notches which will help you ID more accurately. I think this move would dramatically improve your detecting.

I find I use my stock coils 91 percent of the time. My 4.5 inch coil about 7 percent of the time and my large coil about 2 percent of the time.

Good luck.

Chris

Thanks for the input. This is my first detector. Got it about a month ago, just now getting use to it. I`m diffinitly upgrading come spring.

If you upgrade to the 250, consider the 'Sports pack'

It comes with the stock coil, 9x12 coil, headphones, tote bag, rain cover and a couple of other goodies.
I wish I had gotten my gear that way instead of piece by piece.

Kellycodetectors also throws in a few more goodies if you order it from them.

It depends on the type of MD'ing you do. I find I use my stock coils 10 percent of the time. My 4.5 inch coil about 90 percent of the time. Small coils are great for trashy areas. Large coils are for non-trashy areas. My small coil has paid for itself many times over. I used the stock coil for over a year before I bought the small coil. The small coil made my MD'ing so much easier.

I ordered my detector from kellyco, great people over there. I told them this would be my first detector and that I needed something fool proof. They have great package deals. As far as the type of MDing I do, well I tend to do parks, old schools, and fields. Haven't visited very many trashy sites.

Unles you're upgrading to a big dollar machine get the 250. There's a world of difference between it and the 150. I own about every detector Garrettt makes and I use the 250 the most.
