Seahunter mk2 first outing.

Recently purchased the sh mk2 after reading many reviews and talking to my local detector supplier who had used one extensively.I took it to the beach today for it's first outing and my first outing with a pi machine.
I chose to hunt down by the low tide line where there is less iron contaminants just to ease myself into the use of a pi machine. To be honest,i could'nt quite believe how many non ferous bits and bobs I was pulling off the beach......the beach is very quiet at the moment due to the high sand levels. The depths I was pulling tiny objects from was very encouraging and I ended the day with a few coins, two junk rings and a thin silver chain that was knotted up.
The photo shows some of the tiny objects surrounding one of our pennies (bottom right). The iron objects came up from the top of the beach......i did'nt intend to hunt here but I got so addicted to the machine I let the tide push me into searching the more junky areas.
I'm really encouraged by this machine and it will be my main machine for the low tide areas on the beach,it's definately deeper than any vlf machine i've used and that includes muti frequency models.I was thinking about getting the larger coil for more ground coverage but I don't think I really want to be digging any deeper than the machine already detects at.I'll just cover the ground more thoroughly and i'll use my vlf machine with it's 12" coil for covering the beach quicker.
All the best,neil.

Hair pins & tent pegs. Are big for pi's. Rusty iron, of course the tabs. You will be able to distinguish a lot of them out with time. It's the iffy signals, (too close to call) that suck me in. When in doubt, dig.

Cheers Dancer, some of the iron does have a more wooley signal than good targets but I will keep digging it until i have a lot more experience.Hair pins seem to have a high/low signal response in a lot of cases but again I will keep digging them until my experience grows.

When you hit that first gold ring, and you know it was a deep one, you'll forget all about those scoops that only got trash. Keep at it, good luck!

Keep up the good work...for first time out that is a fantastic haul....ok, a lot of rubbish, but that is par for the course when you are using a PI machine. As Dancer said, with time you will be able to identify some of the junk,. like bobby pins, but I still dig some in case they might be a chain (always the optimist). As you go, you get to be able to identify the "blare" of rusty iron too. Great work and take heart, because you dug a lot of good targets too. HH

Thanks for all the encouragement,it is much appreciated.I will definitely be sticking with the machine as I believe by putting the work in I will pass over good targets that have been missed by others using vlf machines.I just wish I had tried a pi sooner.
Thanks again,neil.
