SeaHunter Mark II - Okay for fresh water?

In freshwater lakes, will I be totally frustrated with the lack of discrimination on this PI detector? I have a chance to get a Sea Hunter on a trade, just wondering if I could get away with this over a VLF water machine.

thanks,

ian

From the land of the Bluenose....not a bad machine but does chatter a lot and discrimination.......ummmmmmmmmmmm! I dig everything while swishing so really don't know!

You probably will be frustrated close to shore with the mark II, as there is so much junk there. However, as you wander out past waist deep water, the garbage totals drops and there are usually more good targets out there. I bought one last year and used it in the summer....I dug a lot of coins with it, along with lots of junk too. Some of the best water hunters dig all water targets anyway, so using the Garrett Mark II shouldn't be a problem. I did a comparison out in the water up to my mid nipple line. I went over the area with my single frequency water machine, and it was pretty quiet. I did the same area with the mark II, and it was like hunting a totally different area altogether. There were targets everywhere, and some were just out of range for the single frequency machine. I also used my mark II for snow hunting, and got great depth in the snow too.

I have recently upgraded to the Infinium, as it can do a little discrimination. Funny thing........I was out shooting birds with my Infinium today
