Just got a used one and doesn't seem to get more than 4" on an air test. Any help from people who have used this machine would be greatly appreciated. All I have is a downloaded manual. How's it in salt water?
Thanks in advance

Forget about air tests with a PI. They don't like a space between the coil and the target. The same applies in water. For best results, you need to keep that coil as close to the bottom as possible.

Take it to the beach and you will see just how deep she detects....regret selling mine.

It's designed for saltwater and good to 200 feet and has been around for about 25 years and used by such famous folks as Mel Fisher and Bob Marx. Air tests are useless with a PI. As John says, keep your coil on the surface. You'll find it gets a lot more than four inches. This one has a bit of a learning curve so patience is the theme of the day. It ignores saltwater and iron mineralization and has three depth settings, shallow, normal, or super-deep.. Did you get the short stem ( ScubaMate ) that goes with it for deep water hunting?

Thanks everyone for the info. And yes it came with short and long poles and wall charger and car charger. Hopefully I get a chance to try it at the beach.

Hello everyone. I found this thread and I have a few questions as well.

I just bought a used Sea Hunter XL 500 Pulse. Basically, I need all the help I can get. I dirt hunt with a 250, but this Sea Hunter is a different animal. What is the ideal volume to adjust the "pulsing" to? I should be able to hear a quiet pulse correct? Will a deep target cause an actual louder tone or just a slight change? I know I will need to log in some hours to get to know it, but I am hoping someone could offer a newbie some advice!?

Thanks in advance!

Steve

From the land of the Bluenose......used one of those for years and is a great machine although a tad heavy. Notch her down and dig it all. Good luck sir!
