Sea shells as idicator?

Can you tell if an area of an ocean beach is good to hunt due to the shells that are visible? Something like larger shells vs. small ones? I'm a lake hunter most of the year, so I need you ocean going experts for this one. Thanx

I hunt for beach glass a lot, from what i have observed, after storms of course its very good, you get lots of the glass on the surface than, which than means that some of the other stuff that's heavier has been rearranged. Or sometimes you get completly new "shipments" of sediments which are usually a good sign that a new supply has just arrived.

An owner of a MD shop, and a prolific water hunter, told me he looks for razor clams.

I hunt 90% of the time in deep water troughs... bottom make up is usually gravel and shells I find most of my gold there.
