sea hunter's tone?

The question I have is, can you tell by the audio what the target is, I know it don't have tone Id , but like double beeps on hair pins, softer tone on gold, thanks hank

I sold my MKll so I could get the AT Pro a couple months after it came out. So, it's been a while since I used the Sea Hunter. As I recall, anything long and skinny like a nail or bobby pin will double blip when you swing the search coil over it lengthwise. I believe this holds true for any PI machine. Also, a nice gold cross will give the same signal.
Man, I'm trying to remember, but I think when I was using the MKll w/10"x14" Mono search coil, rings would double blip, too. Like, they would beep under each edge pass off the search coil.
Sorry, man, it's been a while. With any PI machine on the beach, you should really dig everything. I got tired of digging so darn deep with that Sea Hunter. It just goes ridiculously deep. That wore me out. That and digging every little signal. I did get some gold with it, too, though. You need the patience of a Saint to use a pulse induction machine. Just beep, dig, beep dig-repeat.
Make sure that you have a really good (really good) long handled sand scoop. You will NEED it!
Oh yeah, and Clive James Clynick has an incredibly good book entitled "Pulse Power" that I highy recommend you read if you use a PI on the beach.

Best of luck to ya! Happy Hunting!:)

Thank you Metalhead for your great info, I will get me a long handled shovel and the book, I heard it was helpfurql, thanks again, how do you like the atpro?, HH and GL, hank

Thanks metalhead, I may have to check this book out if I get the sea hunter next year. I wanted one this year, but my detecting time is almost non-existent and it will have to wait until spring. Good luck with your detector, Hank68.

Thanks Leslie, hey Metalhead I just ordered the book from Clive, HHhank

My pleasure. I love the AT Pro. It's an impressive machine. Great depth, fast recovery and excellent iron discrimination. I don't get out to hunt nearly as much as I'd like to or use to. However, when I do, I enjoy using the AT Pro in tot lots and parks. I'll use it on the beach if the area is loaded with iron trash. I have a Sovereign Elite that I typically use at the beach on the wet sand (salt water) at low tide. The Sov has a tendency to null out constantly in areas that are loaded with iron junk. It has a very slow recovery. These are the places where the AT Pro shines. I've quite regularly pulled good targets out of holes with rusty old iron right next to it. AT loses some performance in wet salt water sand and that's when I'll use the multi freq Sovereign.

Glad to see that you've got that CJC book coming. Knowledge is power.

Happy Hunting!:)

Thanks fongu,
