Dos anybody use a Garrett Sea Hunter??? Thank You, Mickfin

woops??? I posted N lowered my self, It self Destruction#@%^#^&^& Mickfin

I forgot to ask is th Sea Hunter ok in Fresh Water, Thanks

i had one for a little wile ..it will work fine in fresh water ..but it pick up every little small wire ,,good depth on the 8"coil

Tom Dos the Disc work good??? Thanks , Mic

I like it better than my Infinium LS. Easy to use and IMO it has better disc capabilities and same depth as Infinium. The descrete mode works great in freshwater where the trash is. I just love it. Wish I would have got one sooner.

I'd be curious to hear from some of the heavy Infinium user out there on this...Has anyone used both the Infinium and the Sea hunter? Comparisons? Likes/Dislikes?

I use the 8" , but have the 10X14 coming. Going to the salt next weekend and will have more info.

I have & use both the SH MK2 & the Infinium LS I have the big coils on both and although I use the Excal/WOT most of the time there are places with highly materialized ground, black sand & iron that require using the SH or LS to punch through. I recommend both however a LS is really not for a newbie

Do you find one to be deeper than another? Which coil are you running on them? I have heard good things about the large mono coil.

I run the 14 inch on both DD on LS & Mono on SH Mono is a bit deeper but DD gives better coverage 6 of 1, 1/2 doz of another both good

Thanks for the good intel....I've read the mono will hear shains when the DD wont....Is that your experience?

No it isn't but common sense isn't going to help U with the GB or getting it stable in certain environments if U don't understand the basics of the machine

What state are U from ?? I'm from California. I have had a very hard time ground balancing the Infinium on salt water beaches I hunt while in the shallow surf where the waves are hitting the coil constantly. I can get the machine stable enough to tell the good targets, I just can't get it to not false when the waves touch the coil in the surf. If you can ground balance without any type of falsing in that type of enviroment, then I stand corrected. But the basics so far tell me it can't be done.

Thanks for the reply back.

Fl West coast but I also hunt the iron, black sand infested shores of lake As I said it has a pretty good learning curve to get it right. I hunt the surf with it down here all the time with no problems. Proper GB is the key. I might also add that I went through 3 new LS's before I got one that was working properly.
Try this:
Turn everything to 0 place coil on the WET sand and hold it motionless while you turn on the machine on and to to fast-wait about 10 seconds and then turn to
slow for about the same and then to LOCK raise threshold to about 3 I hunt discrimination @ 0 If volume is 2 loud (waterproof headphones) I use foam inserts in the cups. Because in CA U might have electrical interference there are other ways to set it up-this is the basic set up and works for me here in FL but U might have to raise the disc to around 3

I have done exactly what you are suggesting and have had no luck. Only if I raise the disc past 3 to 4-5 will it almost quiet down, but when I do that, there goes my depth. That's why I purchased the Sea Hunter. I took it to the salt water yesterday and had no problems in the surf with the 8" coil.

I have a question for anyone who has used a Sea Hunter2 on a beach with black sand.

I purchased a Sea Hunter2 last April and I have about 100 operating hours with it. I have experienced a problem with black sand. I keep getting false signals from black sand (magnetic black sand) in both standard mode and discrete mode. Is it normal for the Sea Hunter to detect magnetic black sand?

Thanks

Gil
