Sea Hunter Users?

Teach

New member
Hello All, when I get my new Sea Hunter I'm gonna need some brains to pick for tips on how to use the thing. I imagine it will be very similar to my old XL500 Sea Hunter in use.

However, how many sea hunter users we got here? Make yourself known to me if you won't mind helping out. :please: Thanks

First tip: If it chirps; adjust the elimination up a tad untill it stops. As you move over new ground if it starts chirping
again adjust it up a tad more. Go eazy on this you just want to kill the bird not good targets. these are very smooth
running machines and hunt deep. Remember it's a PI so forget trash elimination and be prepared to dig everything!

LOVES BOBBY PINS AND NAILS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HAPPY HUNTING

Geeez where does the time go!!!!! It was almost 30 years ago that I bought my xl500 sea hunter. Its hard to remember how it operated but I remember do some little ritual to tune the thing when first arriving on site like turning a know 3 revolutions one direction and then 3 revolutions back in the opposite direction........think it had something to do with tuning it for ground cancellation? Man that was a long time ago. Funny you mention bobby pins..........I remember those darn things.......the 500 used to provide a very distinct signal with bobby pins and very thin jewelery chains that was different to what I would hear from coins etc.

With the new model Sea Hunters, is there no more tuning? Just power up, set your audio threshold, adjust your elimination level and go?

I'm not entirely clear on the differences between the standard and discrete trash modes either. Anyone?

Are there user manuals online somewhere? Thanks

Found the owners manual on Garrett's site.

Sea Hunter is a great detector for beach work both wet and dry land. I had an older Sea Hunter and now have a new Sea Hunter on the way. Can't wait till it arrives. So I'm trying to pick the brains of the Guru's here for tips on using it vs my old one.
