hey GaryL waiting to hear that. i use tesoro almost exclusively, but their current detector for beach hunting the sand shark is a detect everything detector and the tiger shark has not got great reviews on the wet sand. like hunting on the land i want to keep it fun. thanks for your reply.

Don't go there kdc. Set it up barely audible on threshold, 0 on discrimination and Standard Trash Elimination. I have owned 3. Ran them exclusively, my 1st 2 water hunting seasons. They are great units, but that is the right way to run the unit, if you intend on finding gold and not missing any. As far as I'm concerned, there is no other way. I wouldn't count on finding a PI, that REALLY discriminates. Auditory discrimination will come with some experience though, but don't count on a PI to do it for you. Best of luck on your decision mate. Here's an action shot of me and the Mark II, back in the day.

thanks for info Gulf Hunter. i'm trying to pick everybodys brain, my saltwater hunting is very limited.

Hey Gulf Hunter, I wish the waves were as small over here in OZ, they make those look like ripples! Now I know why you guys spend most of the time water hunting. I've been learning much about the Infinium, the reverse disc works extremely well, as does the dual tone High/Low for gold targets, etc. Can't wait to get unde the water again!!! Live your dreams! HH regards Nugget.:detecting:

Yeah, I guess they are not what you would call oceanic waves, but still will beat you silly, LOL! Nothing that I feel is gunna drag me offshore though. Let us know which way you decide to go mate! I am looking at an Infinium too, for a future PI. I liked my Mark IIs, but I believe the Infinium would be a better unit. after overcoming the learning curve.
