Sea Hunter Mark 2 Question

New member
Greetings from Australia

I just received my Sea hunter and I have tried it in my backyard. Could someone please answer a couple of questions for me...

1. It is extremely loud on the ears

It is loud....to compensate for divers using it and the headphones under water. I suggest you cut out a piece of foam and fit it in each ear muff. That helped me a lot too. When you first turn it on, you should hear some beeps, which indicate the condition of the battery. 5 beeps is good....one beep is not. If you turn it on with the coil resting on metal or near some power lines, it will make noises.

It is a real deep machine too! Use it often, listen real carefully to the sounds. You need to learn what the different deep vs. shallow targets sound like plus the difference between a nice round target like a coin or ring vs. a rusty piece of metal. I have suggest to people to shorten the learning curve to hunt with your eyes closed for a good part of the hunt. This really helps you focus on the sounds.

Yeah PI machines take a good deal of getting used to as they are a breed all their own and operate nothing like a standard detector. If you don't plan on using it under water you may try to pick up some earphones with volume control. John has offered some good advice in regards to that problem. Also a PI has quite a learning curve so don't expect to master it anytime soon. It will take lots of practice, patience, and perseverance. PI's also go very deep so expect to do some serious digging. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice. However even if I hold the unit up in the air it still has this beeeeeep bipbip thing going on. Maybe it is b-roke :sadwalk:

Dude dont turn your machine on indoors...it goes nuts..or even around town where you are near alot of electrical stuff. That is most likely why your machine is noisy now. Get out in a field or the woods or desert and try it there.

From the land of the Bluenose.....is a good machine and have had great success with it. Run mine on no discrimation and dig everything in the water. Good luck swishing!

PI's are very sensitive, which will make them unstable around your house........ Also PI's do not air test very good........If you are not going to submerge your SH2, Garret sells Volume control non-submerge Headphone that will fit that odd headphone plug.
