SE Sound Off

I was wondering how many sounds (tones) does the SE produce? If you are on the Conduct mode does it produce a tone for each level of Cond? Also the loudness of the tone mean it is closer to the top? Also I see that you can use LONG Reponse. Did I miss something in the manual?

I counted over 30 tones, I did that a long time ago, that is for conduct. This doesn't include mini type half tone differences or different warble sounds. Yes about the loudness but that is determined by the gain setting- there should be an explanation in the manual about that. Long response is the same as audio 1 on the XS and Exp2 and yes, you can use it also. In fact I use audio 1 full time but I am in a small minority, most use the normal setting. When you get a chance, try long audio and switch it to normal and you will see what the difference is.

Gain at 5 will give you a modulated effect( shallow loud...deep soft) and a setting of 10 will let you hear the soft tone of a deepie better..All depends where you are hunting and if you are after clad or if you are indeed after deep silver...time to read the manual again to better understand the settings...

You can get a LOUD tone from deep LARGE conductive objects as well.

Your title makes me wonder if you have it set on Constant.

Yes. (Also does on Ferrous.)

Also the loudness of the tone mean it is closer to the top?

Yes, depending on your gain setting. The higher the gain, the less variability between deep and shallow volume. The SE default, is 8, I think, which might be too high for some conditions. I've tended to drop it to 7 and even 6 some of the time. (But I'm new at the SE and will be learning for a while yet.)

Also I see that you can use LONG Reponse. Did I miss something in the manual?

Sounds like it.

Good luck.

Thanks BlackX.... I just want to make sure that I am on the right page understanding the SE. When learning something new I find you learn faster when you have someone else to talk to, to see if you are understanding correctly.
