I just got an SE Pro im used to using a whites detector what's the best way to ID your target with this machine..I had a safari for a few months but this is a total different beast what I can tell.Thx any help is much appreciated.

Hello LS Hunter, I have an Explorer II which came out before the SE - folks say your version goes a little deeper then the II.

What do you me ID a target? Are you asking about pin pointing or interpeting where coins hit on the screen

just wanna know how to ID
a quarter for instance tone only or is there a method on the screen. That way i can tell the difference between quarter nickel dime penny so forth..

I go by the sound and where the target hits on the screen. Or you could use the digital read out, and go by the sound and the numbers read out. If this helps.

Thanks...I have a friend i hunt with and all he uses is the Explorer 2...I seen him pull a Indian out of the ground at 9 inches i was standing there like holy ???..I really wanted the 2 but i came across a deal that could not pass up on the SE Pro..It was in the original box looks like it was never used still has the original screen protector from factory on it so I'm a give a run and see if I can learn this detector.

From old website but info is still relevent

The next screen shows where clad coins and other things tend to hit....The red is quarter, purple is dime/penny. Notice how they almost always hit even with or below the top of the screen... this is a good way to tell clad from silver before you dig, and it is right about 80-90% of the times. Clad quarters and halves may read off top of screen like the silver ones. The green hit is typical of an indian/zinc cent and may vary side to side somewhat. The blue hits are typical of bullets, they usually overlap right side of screen. The dark blue would be large minieball type bullets, medium blue is medium size bullets, light blue is small bullets - these are bullets made of lead. Yellow shows a typical hit for large gold rings, tan would be typical medium gold rings, brown would be small, thin gold rings or "broken band rings". As always these will vary greatly depending on size, karat, etc. but you can see how most of them stay away from the pulltab area between the yellow hit and the other 2 hits.

Wow you got a good one, congratulations.
The sound is nice as can be Nd you'll know it right away if it is a quarter.
I use ferrous tones now so you need to give this forum the details about your settings.
I. Started using ferrous this year and also audio 3 .....I am not certain if yours has audio 3?

The easiest thing to do is drop a quarter a dime. And a nickel and a penny on the. Ground or just wave them over the coil at home. When in doors lower the senisistivity while testing.
If it hits in the upper right.corner then it is a quarter or something real close to. One.

Get a copy of Andy sabich's book on explorer etrac it has helped me and many others. It's worth it, re-read parts that your interested in and then go out and try it

Thx..Question. .Do you think the the SE pro is as good on depth as the whites whites v3i?

I get great depth with my EXP 2 and am told that the SE Pro goes a little deeper. So, I would say if not better then as deep, but this depends on the user going slow, area conditions and soil moisture.
If you want more depth buy a used 15inch WOT coil

Thx for in info.

If there is any iron or trash in the ground your numbers will not be right,if it sounds good then just dig it.I have come to realize these are awesome machines, but the tones are the most informative, numbers 2nd.hh

I like to coin hunt most of the time,Old house's, barns, fields,School yards. The mineralization here in Louisiana is not too bad..But recovery must be fast because of the amount of trash some areas not so bad than others.based on this what are your recommendations for settings?I like to hunt nearby beaches like Mississippi Florida Pensacola do you think this machine will do ok on the beach. and what do I need to do to set it up for beach hunting..SE Pro. ..

This detector has a learning curve, But the depth is very impressive ..Hope my Andy S.book comes in soon.Im not sure what everyone is talking about audio 1, 2, are 3...Does the SE Pro have it..Thx.Greg..

I know u guys have the answer..
