Version 2.0 with more carbon fiber, MORE!! Here she is ready for her maiden voyage tomorrow at the beach, 56.5 ounces with 8 AA batteries ready for action. The fancy Minelab arm cup pad adds another 2.6 oz but its comfy.

That's right I drilled a bunch of 1/2 holes in Minelabs overkill lower rod which took out 1/2 ounce of dead weight.

Redesigned the lower rod clamp to shave more weight.

She looks FIERCE I like it!

The handle under the rubber grip is also now carbon fiber.

I also molded a carbon fiber arm cup to shave more weight.

That's what they COULD have been right out of the box! When I first got my EX2 and met the guy who had it,when I saw it in person I thought to myself.."Well that's kinda goofy looking!" Good thing I got over it,I'd never think of letting it go anywhere now that I know what I know. But if it looked like THAT...I would've given the guy extra! A lot extra! That is an absolutely professional series of mods on that thing, too bad it's a one-off. That is what is known as a "LOOKER"!
Well done sir!:smoke:

Here I am trying to figure out a broken cam lock and you are redesigning an entire rig! Haha. That is a hot setup Charles!! Awesome!!!

Charles, that looks terrifiic, everyone will want one. You beat the new minelab release coming this September, ha ha ha.

Best of luck with it.

Tony

Hi Charles,
The mod/conversion looks great. Thanks for showing.
While your're at it , unless you've already done so, you can remove the speaker.
Not sure how much weight is shed by doing so, but you seem on a roll to reduce the weight.
I took out the speaker for reasons other than weight, blocked off the speaker vents, sealed off the shell join with a bead of urethane ( limit the ingress of water if ever it got dunked).
I use my Explorer 11 with a dedicated earphone/headphone socket.(it's a chest mounted unit)
Works very well.
I don't ever miss the internal speaker at all.

I always remove the speaker, sadly as you know this saves very little weight its a fraction of an ounce. I remove it like you so I can seal up the speaker vents to keep the sand and water out.

Charles what are you going to do too your Deus when you get it?

I'm thinking Charles is going to go wireless µ-ear buds with a flexible solar panel on the Deus logo ball cap.

How did the maiden voyage go?

One is for the main coil, the other is for the X1 probe. There is a small toggle switch also bottom/right side of the forward half of the control box to switch between the two. That whole bundle of birds nest X1/switch box on the lower shaft stuff was ripped out.

Connect it to my oscilloscope and program it for small gold .

Guys its possible the mighty Explorer has finally been dethroned. DEUS wow, especially version 4 that came out recently. Its deeper, its even better at getting a hit on good targets in iron. Its 1.9 lbs. Its wireless, wireless headphones, wireless coil, wireless display module. Did I mention its only 1.9 lbs? I'm just getting started.

Another recent DEUS development, high frequency coils, HIGH I said like gold prospecting territory high frequency. You can't do that with an Explorer. Each coil gives you a choice of 3 different high frequencies, basically a normal frequency like you would see on a coin/relic detector plus a mid high frequency, and a upper high frequency. Plus 7 offsets of those 3 primary frequencies. So rather than buying a 2nd detector in the gold prospecting frequency range, toss a HF coil on the DEUS and presto. But if that's not working during your hunt or you want to switch back to a normal frequency coil for more depth on coin size targets just press a button. No running back to your vehicle to swap machines.

Question: What 3 high value targets are almost never dug on a beach even though gobs of them have been piling up on beaches for decades? What high value targets are never dug in the dirt inland? The answer is why I ordered a DEUS.

Just a guess here as I'm not been a beach or water hunter.

Gold necklaces (fine chains), bracelets and diamond earrings?

How'd I do?
