SE Pro Depth Isssue

Hi , Recently acquired a SE Pro and I purchased the explorer /etrac book and read the manual briskly and decided to try it in my test garden. I ran the machine with the factory presets and did the noise cancel and discovered it would not hit my 8 inch deep quarter at all. My sov gt would hit this and i am disappointed or I am expecting too much from the machine with the preset program? I realized that this machine is definately going to have a learning curve but I was hoping to use it this spring at my farm field sites here in Pa. Thanks Ezra.

Ezra,
That is odd. Unless your ground is really hot, the only other thing I can think of is that there is a nail within the quarter's detection range. The combination of the quarter and nail may well push the signal over into the default descriminated out area. Try the same settings except press the iron mask button twice (I think twice). This should bring up the iron mask discrimination screen. Use the buttons on either side of the display to decrease the black discriminated area to only an eighth of an inch on the left hand side. Then press the detect button. Now try that quarter. I bet you hear it loud and clear. Hope this does it for you.

Big Fang Coin Biter , Thanks I went out this morning and I went back over it and I press the iron mask button , turn it on went to detect button pushed it and then went over the 8 inch quarter . Got it! I think I have a lot of reading to do and then spend some time in the fields to get experience with this beast . Thank You . Ezra.

I once dug a british pre decimal half penny in bad ground at a genuine 10 inches with the SE Pro. I think 10 inches is approaching the depth limitations on a single coin..
