Today the Se gave me another look at what it can do...it got the usual clad...pinpointing was perfect and the ground was soft. Got a 26 and 58-d wheatie, and a 35 merc that was so deep the flat metal handle part of the Lesche was inside the ground! Damn I am gonna love this machine! Here we go...fired up...fired up...yes...this machine is what I have heard...2nd silver for it in just a few hunts.........

hey there gregg..i told ya so hahaha...but dont forget i also told ya that DEEP holes in 95 degree heat will make you almost dread your next DEEP target.....but alas such is the minelab life .....rock on dude:yo:

Greg,

As you get better with the SE, I am sure when you go over old spots you will find many coins that are shallow. Read some posts from Larry (I think) and other DFX users that were surprised by all the shallower good coins missed. The Explorers excel at this, but they will not hit in a textbook manner. As your experience with the machine progresses you will be able to "see" stuff in trash. I very seldom dig coins deeper than 6", almost never deeper than 8", and this is 150 year old coins.

Keep us posted. Remember, now that you are an explorer user: RMDPC-Real men don't post clad. Looks like you are well on your way to consistantly finding the good stuff.

Just wait until you get more use on the Explorer. Then you will see what it can really do! These Detectors are Silver Magnets and you will be very pleased with the results after you get a few months under your belt. Good Luck and HH to you on your next hunt.:detecting:

they do not allow you to just change it yourself....has to be done manually now...guess it is a bit harder.

i'm trying to figure out a way to strap the ol' Dual Freq X to my other (right) arm
so i can do a true side-by-side comparison

Congrats! You'll find that you will pull up a lot of very deep, sweet sounding targets. Your finds of indians, old wheaties, and barber dimes will be a lot higher than with your Whites... I found that out right away when I first got the Explorer. Also a lot of coins on edge and in the hole with rusty nails and botle caps. Welcome to the world of Explorin' ! Keep those good finds coming and HH, Mike.

How is the display on the SE? Do you like it? I thought I read there are two diff displays. One has the VID #s and one has a graph like presentation maybe like a signagraph on the xlt/dfx. Is it one or the other unless you buy that meter add on? Which do you use mostly? Is it a PITA to switch back and forth? Do you even bother? Thanks

Well seeing I came from using digital with the dfx...I am using the digital now...but I am going to start using smartfind (that is the other display you asked about)....and it too comes with the Se... no add on. Also there is a display where you can just go with the digital numbers very large on the screen... I am learning....This detector is loaded!:clapping::detecting:

It's great whatching someone new to the Explorers and listening to the excitement of using such a quality machine.
