SD2000 Mod ID Help

Hi Guys,

I posted this on the PI forum and should have posted it this forum. I was hitting the local thrift shops and picked up this Minelab SD2000 that has been modified. The place where I bought it buys and sells a lot of different things and this detector was part of a large lot of items and they did not know anything about it and wanted to get it out of the store.

I do not want to power it up until I know more about the mods on it. I have done some research on the net and it looks like it could be an early Ismael Jones mod. One of the mods looks to be a 12 volt GPM mod for depth and audio enhancer and another mod looks to be a 5 position frequency mod for sensitivity.

It came with two Old style

It definitely is Ismael's mods or one close to it. Here's the link to Ismael's website.

Hi Snakejim,

It is Ismael's, I sent him an e-mail with some pictures and he confirmed it was one of his early mods. He sent me a copy of the instructions and gave me information on how to test the electrical system. With Ismael's help I was able to fire it up, I will post some pictures of after clean up.

Colt, I figured it was his. I repaired one for a friend of mine. It's a great set up. I know you'll have good luck with it.
I have an SD2000 that was the last SD2000 that Finders modified as they were going out of bussiness.
It work pretty well. I use lithum-ion 7.2 volt batteries for a light weight set up with only a headphone cord from me to the detector.
Best wishes!

Snakejim, what I need is a battery system that will let me adjust the voltage from 6 volts to 9 volts and I also need a signal enhancer. I sent Ismael an e-mail asking what options I have, this is a one hot little puppy. That 12 volt gel battery will make me man up.

Snakejim, does the SD2000 have to be on to change the frequency, or do you have to turn the power off, to change the frequency.

Colt.
