I bought a used SD 2100 and I got a few questions. I was testing it out and noticed the tune knob really doesn't do much of anything. I know it comes into play when there's electromagnetic interference. If there is none (like out on desert environments), should it be fully counter-clockwise or clockwise?
I also noticed the Balance 1, Balance 2 knobs on the back. I understand the two knobs are used for ground balancing. However, I may turn Balance 1 knob completely clockwise or counter clockwise and still have no response. Is it because mineralization is non existent? if that's the case, should it be fully counter clockwise or clockwise? I do notice a response when playing with knob 2 though.
I have to say I'm some what disappointed with this machine. Coming from a Tesoro Tejon user, I was shocked I couldn't detect some minute targets like I frequently did with my Tejon. With my Minelab, I seem to only be able to detect a BB at half inches from the coil. I only have the stock DD 11 inch coil. A lead shard twice the size of a BB is only detected on coil.
Is there a coil that will help me detect a BB at 4-7 Inches? Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks in advance
