SCUBANANZA !

Found these between the beach and where the raft used to be, A day to remember! the 1960 ring was lost in 1958 two weeks after the owner bought it, he said he and his friends looked for days with no luck. he was so excited when his home town school called and told him his ring had been found I had three messages on my machine by the time I got home. He said he would do anything to have his ring back, I said give me your address and the story of how you lost it and I will mail it to you.

The 1929 class ring I will probably keep, the school is long gone and the owner probably is too.

Sometime I would like to find A large gold ring with no initials on it, is that to selfish?

Beach hunting with waders is much easier but scuba is much more exciting!

i would defin not say u are selfish.. your good deeds will get rewarded soon enough... just look at all the cool stuff you have already found. doesn't have to be gold or silver to an awesome find!!! ahh but they will come too...
great job & good hunting!!!

Seems the diving really opens up your options to the finds in deeper water, unaccessable to the waders. Try to include more details about each piece McDyver, it would be interesting to know. I do not think you are selfish though, may that large ring come to pass fer ye mate! You are CERTAINLY in the right area for it, I'd say! GREAT STUFF MATE!

Nice story McDyver, does the owner live near you? I have about 9 old rings from the teens and twenties and they are all mine ;)

How often when you return a ring do you get a reward? I think returning a ring that was lost 50 years ago is EXTREMELY unselfish. I have only found one old class ring (193:geek: and one new class ring (2009.) I scrapped the old one and I am having a very difficult time returning the new one. I emailed the principal a few times and now I am blocked from sending them emails. Maybe she thinks I'm a scammer or worse. I think I'm just going to show up at a home game for the sport that was pictured on the side of the ring and ask the team. The school is 30 miles away, though. Should I expect to be reimbursed for my 60 mile round trip? (BTW, I am extremely selfish!)

Seriously.
If someone offers me a reward for something I'd be doing anyway, I'll turn it down twice. After that I keep it. Seems to me that you've tried to return the ring more than twice and been rejected. In your place I'd keep the ring as you've made a reasonable effort to find the owner..

McDyver, Curious about your diving. I dive and we have lots of beaches with swimming platforms anchored out
for the swimmers. In the Fall, they take them away, but I find that there is too much grass and weeds out there
to hunt. Do you have the weed problem where you dive? Thanks for your answer.

GULF, GOING TO A STATE PARK WITH A LAKE GOING BACK TO 1920S. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT SETTING IN THE FRESH WATER WOULD BE GOOD WITH MY EXCAL 1000 (CEDAR WATER) I THINK YOU MIGHT SAY ALL METAL BUT NEED YOUR ADVICE. ALSO AN OLD CAMP ON THE SAME PARK IN A SANDY AREA NO JUNK AROUND. WHAT DO YOU THINK? THE BEACH SETTINGS THING ARE AWESOME BUT LAND IS STILL A LITTLE NEW. WITH MY OLD FISHER CZ 6 I WOULD KNOW. CAN YOU HELP ME OUT.
THANKS, BILL

...I'll attempt to pinch-hit.

Disc = 1
Threshold = just barely silent
Volume = max
Sensitivity = 12-2 o'clock position

I dive strictly fresh water and these are the settings "da man" gave me. ...and I must say, "They work great."

Be careful and make sure of metal detectors in state parks. They're iffy down here and one must sign a permit before diving. Also, here, diving in state park lakes swim areas with a metal detector is limited to periods between labor day and memorial day.

Have a great time and be sure and post back with some good stuff.
