screw caps

So far I have noticed that a screw cap will read as a bouncy dime / quarter signal. VDI about 84 / 85. almost every time its been a screw cap. BUT silver dimes do that too.

It seems on some i get 40- 99 on some, I found a buffalo nickel did same thing ... thats why I was diggin all those bouncy signals..

"how does 1 avoid screw caps with ATP?
I hit a park today and got like 40 screw caps"

So are you saying you got screwed like 40 times today? Screw caps need :inlove: too! It's part of life, its just gonna be that way sometimes. The only way I know to avoid them is to only dig iron......

I've found those (screw caps) that sit on top of the disposal 24 oz.plastic soda bottles tend to VDI 77 through mid 80's, some doing a very good job of imitating a quarter...

I've had some very shallow/surface wet nickels that sounded real excited like fresh can slaw, almost electrified. Sunday while metal detecting in the Rain with the Pro I love I hit a very strong VDI of 64. I probed and out comes a NICKEL, thinking hybrid signal, that a copper penny was under it, I ran the Pro back and got another 64, out comes another nickel, I ran the coil over the spot again, again 64, out comes another nickel, then I got a very erratic 53-52-54- jumping around and out comes another nickel, my first nickel only coin spill .......so in this case the four nick's equaled a VDI of 64, part of the Twilight Zone Mode I run the Pro in.

Mr PT. 1 trick I use to tell if it is a bottle cap. I get the coin sound. I wiggle the coil from tip to heal past the target. If I get the iron sound on both ends it is a good chance it is a bottle cap. Try it and see how it works for you? HH.....Z

Do this only in an area that caps are a problem.

Thanks Elton will try that....HH ....Z

Are you talking about aluminum screw capa and not the iron ones? The aluminum one indicate in are in a good area, not over hunted. Most drink companies went to plastic screw caps several years ago
