screw cap bell tone

I went out today for the first time with my new 8.5-11 DD coil on my 2500. Pinpointing is a challenge but i think I'm getting it.I was just wondering why screw caps come in so high on the scale and sound off with the bell tone. I know the stock 9 inch coil doesn't do that, i want to say screw caps would come in around 7 and no bell tone, now its a whole new ball game. Anybody else notice this with this coil.

Screw caps on the AT-Pro are also bell tone and it uses a DD coil. Maybe thats why? You're right, though. GTI 2500 with imaging coil they hit on zinc cent notch around 99% of the time.

Try pinpointing off the tip of the coil. Easiest way with a DD coil, at least for me it is.

I have the Ace 350 with same coil and same bell tone over screw caps. I have been trying to figure a way to identify before digging otherwise screw caps are going to be worse than pull tabs.

Thanks for the replies guys. I think they will be worse than pull tabs, with that bell tone going off you think you really got something. The only thing that may be the case sometimes is the sound level, I think with screw caps the bell tone is louder than say with a coin. BUT you never know till you dig.

Nature of the beast with DD coils...We have to realize the can be found whole, bent, crushed and mettalic content even differs..but usually shallow ones just cover a lot more ground in pinpoint which is a dead giveaway....so next time in the field experiment.....
