Screen Protection

Has Whites addressed something for screen and housing protection? With a focus on the display now providing so much great information, you are going to want to be looking at it scratch free and glare free. I'd be interested to see what Whites has done in the way of research for this area.

A follow up question might be, if the screen gets scratched pretty bad during normal use, would Whites fix it graciously for free if under warranty?

Oh, and since we are talking about the screen and housing... how much force do the membrane buttons require to depress? Hopefully not as much as the DFX, so we can feel like gun slingers out there tweaking and tuning.

Good point & question Brett.

Visibility has been no problem for me, nor glare either, the screen brightness is fully adjustable. The screen has a protective cover on it like other White's. If you ding it and that bothers you, peel it off and stick on another one from White's parts.

Thanks Larry - you're up late too, Looks like a lot of us just don't wnat to let this go and wake up to the real world on Monday morning!!!

You are right..........:goodnight:

I wouldn't think visibility would be too much of a problem... just when the sun is reflecting right off the display into your eyes, and you can't avoid that really.

So the protective cover that is replaceable... is this the whole plastic membrane that's on it or just around the screen? Does that membrane have switches in it, the little metal dome type, or are the switches on the PCB sticking up through holes in the housing? If the latter, then the membrane is truly replaceable by the user, and should be cheap.

The screen cover is seen on the picture. It covers the display to the side edges of the pod and down to the select buttons. Should be very cheap to replace. I have replaced the ones on my DFX's a couple of times and forgot the price, seems like $5 or less.

Another idea is the dust cover that covers both the meter and control box. Kellyco (I can say that, can't I ) sells them and they sold them for the DFX. Not sure if the DFX control box and the meter is the same size. IF sizes are the same there should be a run on them soon. They are great if you get stuck in the rain plus keeps wind blown dirt out and has a plastic screen where you can leave it on and use the buttons and meter.

You can say that, Kellyco is our largest sponsor and we are happy to have them. The display pod is a little larger on the Vision and will have to have it's own rain coat. Just a wild guess, but I bet it is one of the new products to be introduced this weekend in Texas. For those going to the Texas Treasure show, look me up and say HI. You can buy me a beer too....... I'll be at the White's display or somewhere.....

It's a 5 1/2 hour flight just from the Island to L.A. I don't know how long by canoe. Then it will have to be horse back to Texas. I'm sure attendance will differently increase now.
